Well done to all the residents and staff, who together managed to raise over £200 for MacMillan!

Residents at our over 55s scheme, Bowles Lodge in Hawkhurst have always supported the Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning. But, with new restrictions on social gatherings and communal lounges being closed, staff at the scheme had to think of a new way to run the morning.Trolley with cakes
Staff loaded up their trollies with individually-wrapped cakes donated by Kent SCP, the onsite care provider and Elior, Bowles Lodge's caterer, and visited every resident at the scheme to offer a slice of cake and a chat.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, residents at Bowles were used to a busy programme of regular social events, so the new coffee morning was a big success. It cheered up lots of the residents who haven't been able to get out and have the social interaction they're used to.

Sallyann Povey, Extra Care Service Manager said:
“This was a fantastic opportunity for tenants to participate in an event during a very difficult and for some, isolating time, while raising money for a charity that is important to many of our tenants and staff. This highlights how staff have been creative in ensuring some events can still take place under the current guidelines, and ensuring everyone’s safety.”
