This is a grant scheme which funds projects benefiting West Kent residents across areas such as:

  • financial support for residents, particularly during the cost-of-living crisis
  • providing safe, thriving and resilient neighbourhoods (e.g. by reducing crime and antisocial behaviour)
  • promoting mental health and wellbeing
  • supporting environmental or estate improvements
  • tackling isolation
  • developing skills

From April 2024 to March 2025, the West Kent Community Chest awarded £35,425 to 49 community projects benefiting over 2,500 West Kent residents. Here are some examples of projects supported:

Swanley’s Shed

Running for nearly two years, members of the community come together most days to build bird boxes, bat boxes, park benches, and even refurbishing furniture for residents. It’s proven to be an excellent way to bring people together for a great cause and contribute towards the community.

Swanley Station planting

Volunteers from the local gardening club worked hard to replant two large planters on the platforms as well as a trough and basket at the entrances. A great way to bring pride to the station’s appearance and to brighten up the place.
