These projects offer specific assistance for individual residents identified by West Kent, who are vulnerable and would benefit from specific support in areas such as:
- Garden or house clearances
- One-off gardening or outdoor space sessions
Some examples of recent projects include:
- Cablesheer (an asbestos removal contractor) contributed towards a deep clean and waste disposal costs for a tenant with significant hoarding issues.
- West Kent staff work with partners such as the Community Payback team to help residents tackle overgrown gardens. In 2024/25 Wealdens (cleaning contractor) has supported this project by providing garden waste removal services for ten vulnerable West Kent residents.
- AD Group awarded £1,000 to Swanley Community Hub, a charity which delivers free food to residents in financial need. Staff from AD Group also donated non-perishable food which was used for emergency food boxes.
- With financial support from both AD Group and the Community Chest, we set up an energy saving equipment scheme. This project has been developed as a response to concerns about cost-of-living pressures raised by both residents and staff members. The scheme offers energy saving equipment to West Kent residents on low incomes throughout Kent and Medway. Our Fuel Efficiency Officer refers household to receive energy saving equipment. Available equipment includes air fryers or slow cookers (which are both cheaper to run than conventional ovens), radiator foil (which can reduce energy costs by reflecting heat back into a room) or electric throws/blankets or foot warmers (which can be used to heat the person rather than a room). So far 22 households have benefited from this scheme.
