For this month’s Your Voice, Our Action story, we’re sharing how several social value contributions from our contracting partners helped create safer, greener and more welcoming places for our residents to enjoy.
This work reflects key areas of our Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSMs), particularly around how we maintain and upkeep communal areas and make positive contributions to neighbourhoods.
A garden transformation at Linden House
Residents at Linden House in Sevenoaks can now enjoy an improved communal garden thanks to a volunteering day organised by Savills, our treasury consultants.
Volunteers from Savills joined members of West Kent’s Finance and Corporate Services team to refresh the shared outdoor space. Together, they restored a residents’ bench, planted colourful flowers and carried out general gardening work to create a more welcoming environment.
The improvements have helped transform the garden into a place where residents can relax, socialise with friends and neighbours, and enjoy spending time outdoors in the summer months.
Bringing colour back to Bonney Court
Residents at Bonney Court in Swanley are also seeing positive changes to their communal gardens.
Volunteers from WW Martin, our building contractor for Heath Close, joined colleagues from West Kent and Ridge and Partners LLP, our employer’s agent for Heath Close, to give the outdoor areas a much-needed makeover. The team tackled overgrown weeds, planted flowers and gave planters a fresh coat of paint. Some of our Bonney Court residents also got involved by helping with the gardening work and getting to know the volunteers.
The hard work from everyone involved has helped create a more colourful and inviting space that can be enjoyed throughout the year. It was great to see residents getting involved and helping to make the day a success.
Creating a safer space at Church Road
After residents raised concerns about people accessing their communal garden and incidents of antisocial behaviour (ASB), we took action to make the space safer for them.
With support from AD Construction Group, our windows and doors contractor, new fencing has been installed around the garden at Church Road in West Kingsdown, including secure coded access for residents.
The improvements mean residents can now enjoy their communal space with greater peace of mind, knowing the garden is more secure and accessible only to those who live there.
Your voice, Our action in motion
By working in partnership with like-minded local organisations, providers and suppliers, we are able to achieve the best outcomes for our residents.
We’re incredibly grateful to Savills, AD Construction Group, WW Martin and Ridge and Partners LLP for donating their time, skills and support. Through social value initiatives like these, we can create communities where people feel proud of the places they call home.
