Earlier this month, colleagues from our Communications and Resident Involvement teams travelled to Leeds with members from our Scrutiny panel, Inclusion group and Resident Communications group. This was a special behind-the-scenes visit to Resource, the talented design agency behind our Neighbourhood News magazine.

The trip offered a unique opportunity for our involved residents to see first-hand how each edition of the magazine is developed, from early design concepts right through to the finished pages that land on your doormats.

A closer look at the creative process

The Resource team welcomed our residents and staff for a guided tour of their offices and factory, where residents experienced the full creative journey from initial ideas to the final print.

One of the highlights was watching the latest edition of Neighbourhood News come off the press. Kim, from our Inclusion Group, had the honour of pressing the button to start the printing machine, a moment that made this edition feel especially meaningful to the group.

The value of resident insight

Seeing the process up close helped residents understand the careful planning, creativity and collaboration required to produce each edition. It also strengthened the connection between the stories they help influence and the finished magazine delivered to thousands of households.

đź’¬Catherine a member of our Scrutiny Panel said: “I was very impressed with how Resource takes into consideration how they would impact their carbon footprint, everything that could be recycled and even giving the plain paper that was not up to scratch to the local schools”

The trip wrapped up with plenty of smiles, new knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the creativity and craftsmanship that goes into every issue of our magazine. It was more than just a tour, it was an experience that brought our residents closer to the stories, people, and processes that help shape our communications.
