The technology that supports RTS electricity meters will switch off from 30 June 2025.
This will mean:
- RTS meters will not know when to swap between peak and off-peak rates.
- RTS meters may no longer work properly.
- Heating and hot water supply may stop functioning as normal.
If your RTS meter is not replaced by a smart meter before 30 June 2025, then you will automatically be put on to a single rate tariff which could lead to your heating bill doubling.
If you have an RTS electricity meter, your supplier will contact you to arrange an upgrade to a smart meter before the 30 June 2025 deadline. Please co-operate with your supplier to ensure your meter is upgraded before the switch off.
