Tonbridge & Malling MP Tom Tugendhat took time out of a busy Westminster week to visit our new sheltered scheme for people with learning difficulties at Cedar Court, Edenbridge.

The MP was clearly impressed with the quality of the building, the comfortable homes and the welcoming environment at the scheme, which has provided eight one-bedroom apartments and a communal flat.

He was shown around the building by West Kent Board chairman Colin Wilby and Cllr Michelle Lowe, Sevenoaks District Council's Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Health.

Mr Tugendhat was particularly impressed by the adaptations made to one of the apartments, which has been designed for a disabled tenant and includes a height-adjustable sink and cooker hob.

The £1m refurbishment was part funded by the Homes and Communities Agency and Sevenoaks District Council, as well as by a significant investment from West Kent.
