A big thank you to Wealdens, our cleaning contractor, for their social value contribution at HOUSE, Edenbridge.

HOUSE is an open access youth drop-in centre for young people aged 11-19, or up to 24 with additional needs. The project aims to provide low-cost recreational and educational activities for young people, while promoting acceptable behaviour and responsibility. Their generous contribution of an Xbox, Playstation 5, screens, and two gaming laptops allowed us to open a brand-new gaming room in an old, disused recording studio space. The room will allow the young people to safely enjoy gaming; on their own or with other attendees.

Games have been set up with safety controls, allowing popular games, such as Fortnite, to be played in a safe and inclusive space, without features such as text and voice chat and explicit language.

Importantly, the devices can also be used for homework, research, and creative projects, supporting the learning and development of our young residents. The space is designed to encourage both engagement and education, ensuring HOUSE attendees can build skills and positive connections. Two boys smile while playing video games together

One HOUSE attendee said: "I can't wait to play one on one FIFA!"

Kevin O'Reilly, West Kent's Funding and Social Value Lead added: "We are so grateful for this generous contribution from Wealdens. It has allowed us to improve the service we offer to our young residents in Edenbridge and surrounding areas."

Once again, thank you to Wealdens for this fantastic social value contribution!
