This Sunday (8 March) is International Women’s Day, a global moment to recognise the achievements, contributions and impact of women everywhere.

At West Kent, we’re proud to mark the occasion by celebrating the incredible women who shape, strengthen and support our communities every day.

Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing a series of short interviews across our social media channels, featuring both residents and staff. These stories shine a light on the passion, resilience and dedication that women across West Kent bring to their roles, neighbourhoods and daily lives.

From community development and tenancy support officers to scrutiny panel members and apprentices, each interview offers a personal insight into what International Women’s Day means to them, and how they make a difference in our communities.

Here are just a few of the reflections shared:

“I’m most passionate about empowering our residents and helping people build confidence, develop skills and really integrate within their community” - Lucinda, Community Development Officer

“I like being part of something and having a voice, being part of a team and supporting the wider community in a positive way” - Lynn, Scrutiny Panel member

“International Women’s Day is about celebrating the strengths of all the women around us, whether it’s at work or at home and even ourselves as well, giving ourselves a pat on the back” - Ellie, Apprentice Youth Worker

“I’m hoping that what I instilled in my daughters, they can pass down to their daughters and then I’ve done my job” - Catherine, Scrutiny Panel member

👉Keep an eye on our social channels to watch the interviews as they’re released and join the conversation by telling us: who is your woman of West Kent?

We'd love to hear who inspires you.
