This year marks the 10th anniversary of our Kent Excellent Homes for All (KEHFA) extra care schemes, and residents, families and colleagues recently came together to celebrate this special milestone.
Across our schemes, the last 10 years have been filled with friendships, community spirit and countless memorable moments. To mark the occasion, residents enjoyed anniversary events, including garden parties and opportunities to come together with neighbours, family members and staff.
At Beeches in Dover and Copperfields in Ramsgate, celebrations captured some of the things residents value most about living in their communities.
Residents said:
"I love it here, I love the people, I love what happens here, it couldn't be any better."
"I've been living here six years and I love it, and the staff, you've got to mention the staff, they're all nice."
Duncan, Head of Support at West Kent, reflected on what makes the schemes so special:
"It's a fantastic place which is so much more than just a building, it's a full community made up of so many different people, including staff, volunteers and, most of all, the residents who have made it a fantastic place to live."
The celebrations at Beeches and Copperfields were supported by funding from the West Kent Community Chest, helping residents come together and enjoy the anniversary events.
Juliette, Extra Care Manager at Copperfields, said:
"Without that funding these tenants wouldn't be able to participate, and so many of them really enjoy meeting together in the evenings. It helps provide and maintain their independence, their skills, their dignity and their pride."
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our extra care communities over the last decade. We're proud to celebrate 10 years of KEHFA and look forward to creating many more happy memories together in the years ahead.
