In the heart of our Beeches community, residents came together for a summer BBQ providing food, community and conversation. The event, which brought residents, their friends, and families under the same sky, was a resounding success, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Beeches residents and staff.

The idea of hosting a BBQ during the  summer  was developed during one of the Beeches residents' meetings. Their vision was to create an opportunity for everyone to come together, socialise, and share in the joy of good food and good company. To turn this vision into reality, residents applied for funding through West Kent's Community Fund. Their successful application secured the financial backing needed to ensure all residents could participate, including those who are unable to leave their flats.

The funding also ensured that those who are homebound received a special delivery of delicious food, including them within the event.

A total of 49 people attended the event.. The sunny weather provided the perfect backdrop for the gathering, as everyone made use of the outdoor patio area and the communal lounge. Activities such as skittles were available, and children, guests, and residents alike enjoyed the fun and games.

Friends and family of residents who joined in the celebrations expressed a desire to see similar events organised in the future and builds on the sense of belonging and community in Beeches.
