There are well known scams at this time of year where people try to impersonate organisations or companies, such as housing associations, local authorities or sometimes even your own bank. Please take the following steps when speaking to our staff on the phone, online or in person to help keep yourself safe.

Always ask for identification

  • Our staff will always identify themselves at the beginning of a call, in their email signature (which will always come from a @wkha.org.uk address) or with a lanyard including their name and job title.

Don’t share personal details if you’re suspicious

  • For example, we won’t call you to ask for payment for basic repairs, so if you are contacted by someone claiming to be from West Kent, but they ask for money, please put the phone down.
  • We’ll only ever ask you to pay your rent or other charges via one of our payment methods on our website: www.westkent.org/payrent.

Raise concerns if you’re unsure

  • If you don’t know the person you are speaking to and suspect that they aren’t a member of staff, please contact us to confirm by calling 01732 749 400 or emailing help@wkha.org.uk

Our teams are here to help and support you, if in doubt, call it out.
