West Kent's youth services team has been awarded a further £6000 in funding from Westerham Town Council to provide activities for young people in the area.

The team has been running free sessions in Westerham since 2021, Olympia Boxing and Young Adventurers (formerly known as the 8-12s club), originally funded by The National Lottery.

Originally only running for ten weeks, the sessions were a huge hit, with over 30 young people attending the boxing sessions and 20 young people attending Young Adventurers.

After the ten-week trial, the team and its attendees were keen to continue the project. A small grant became available from Westerham Town Council, and the team secured funding from a Covid relief fund to keep the project running - but only temporarily.

This May, two Westerham town councillors attended the sessions following their original grant, and were very impressed. This week, the council awarded the projects £6,000 to allow them to continue to run for another year, and has also agreed to provide funding year on year.
