Woodland Place, West Kent's largest-ever land-led development, has been shortlisted in two categories at this year's Inside Housing Development Awards.
The development has been shortlisted for Best Development - Rural/Suburban, while the partnership between West Kent and Penenden Heath Developments, our contracting partner at Woodland Place, has been shortlisted for Best Partnership - 101-500 homes.
The double shortlisting recognises both the impact of Woodland Place itself and the collaborative approach that helped deliver it.
Providing 106 homes in Allington, Woodland Place represented a major milestone for West Kent continues to help address housing need through a broad mix of homes, ranging from two-bedroom flats to four-bedroom detached houses for social rent and shared ownership.
The Best Development shortlist recognises the quality, sustainability and long-term impact of the scheme.
All homes at Woodland Place feature solar panels, air-source heat pumps and electric vehicle chargers, helping to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. Alongside the homes, we have also been able to support the growth of a new community at Woodland Place from its earliest days. The development includes:
Two play parks for residents and families to enjoy
Conservation work to preserve the site's historic World War II pillbox
Social value contributions from Penenden Heath Developments, supporting community welcome events and assistance for residents experiencing hardship.
These investments are helping residents settle into their new neighbourhood, build connections and develop a strong sense of belonging.
The Best Partnership nomination recognises the strong working relationship between West Kent and Penenden Heath throughout the project, helping to deliver a development that meets local housing need while creating lasting benefits for residents and the wider community.
