Due to Storm Ciarán, power cuts and local flooding is possible from rivers and surface water this week in the South East of England.
An Amber weather warning for wind and rain has been issued by the Met Office and is expected to be in place until Friday 3 November.
There is an increased risk that properties could flood, and there could be travel disruption. Here are some tips on what you can do to protect yourself and your home:
- Check for flooding near you: https://check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk
- Sign up for flood warnings on the Government website: www.gov.uk/sign-up-for-flood-warnings
- Check the status of a power cut: www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk
- Make sure your belongings are insured: www.westkent.org/homeinsurance
- Make sure that any vulnerable neighbours or relatives are safe and help them report any repairs.
- Contact us if you're worried about your home flooding or if it's starting to flood: www.westkent.org/contactus
More information on staying safe in a storm is available on the Met Office website.

If you’re reporting any repairs or damage that has happened as a result of the storm, please let us know when you report it.
Contacting us
These events can put high demand on our phone system and customer services team, so you may experience some delays.
If your enquiry is not urgent, please consider phoning later, emailing help@wkha.org.uk, sending us a message on Facebook or using our web form instead.
Other appointments
We have asked our staff to work from home this week where they can, so all non-essential appointments may be delayed. Thank you for your patience.
