Aspiring entrepreneurs in the Sevenoaks District can now access expert training and funding support to turn their business ideas into reality.

A new partnership between Sevenoaks District Council and West Kent Housing Association is offering a free eight-week StartUp business programme for residents interested in exploring self-employment.

Held at Meeting Point in Swanley, the weekly sessions start on 14 January 2026 and run from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. They will provide practical training, mentoring, and the opportunity to apply for a business start-up grant. Participants will also get the change to pitch their ideas to local businesses at the West Kent Expo in March. Information on registering for the programme can be found below.

Dawn Grant, Employment and Training Manager at West Kent, said: "We're really excited about this project. It's a fantastic opportunity for residents who want to develop their business ideas and gain the skills and confidence to succeed."

Cllr Michael Horwood, Sevenoaks District Council's Cabinet Member for Improvement & Innovation added: "This scheme is perfect for any local resident who wants to start their own business. During the course, they will get free expert advice and support, tailored to meet their needs, so they can take their business ideas to the next level."

Residents living in the Sevenoaks District can register their interest by completing any of the following:

The StartUp Business Programme is being funded by UK Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
