Our Grounds Maintenance Resident Inspector Project has won the Partnership category at this year's Kent Housing Group Excellence Awards, recognising the difference that resident feedback can make when it's placed at the heart of service delivery.

The award celebrates a successful partnership between our Resident Involvement team, resident inspectors and Nurture, our grounds maintenance partner, who work together to help shape and improve grounds maintenance services across our communities.

Putting resident voice at the heart of grounds maintenance

The Grounds Maintenance Resident Inspector Project gives residents the opportunity to play an active role in reviewing the grounds maintenance in their local area.

Resident inspectors tell us what's working well, highlight issues that need attention and provide feedback on the services they're receiving. We then review this feedback and share it with Nurture to help inform improvements and celebrate good performance.

By involving residents directly, we're able to gain valuable insight into the day-to-day experience of our communities and ensure resident voice remains central to decision-making.

The impact so far

Since launching in 2023, the project has continued to grow.

  • 62 resident have signed up as resident inspectors.

  • More than 240 feedback surveys have been submitted.

  • Resident feedback has helped shape service improvements and identify areas for action.

  • Satisfaction with communal areas (including both inside and outside areas) has increased by 6% since 2024.

  • Complaints relating to grounds maintenance have reduced over the last two years.

These results demonstrate the positive impact that can be achieved when we work with residents and contractors towards a shared goal.

A shared success

While the award recognises the success of the project, it also reflects the commitment of everyone involved in making it work.

A huge thank you to our resident inspectors for taking the time to share their feedback and help improve services in their communities, as well as our Resident Involvement team, and our partners at Nurture.

Get involved

We're always looking for more residents to help shape our services.

We're particularly keen to recruit new resident inspectors in Ashford and Medway. If you'd like to help improve your local area and make sure resident voice continues to influence our services, we'd love to hear from you.
