Last week, partners from Homes England, local councils, and other organisations visited Woodland Place to tour the 106-home development and see how the new community is coming together.
Partners got an early look at finished homes, sustainability features, and the green spaces that will be part of the neighbourhood when construction wraps up this summer.
Guests toured a variety of homes, including both rented and shared-ownership options. They saw a three-bedroom terrace, a four-bedroom detached rental, and two-storey semi-detached homes. This gave visitors a clear idea of the different layouts and construction stages across the site.
Every home at Woodland Place meets modern energy-efficiency standards, with EPC ratings of A or B, solar panels, air-source heat pumps, high-performance insulation, and electric vehicle charging points. The development also has level access throughout, making homes suitable for wheelchair users and adaptable for future needs.
Guests also saw more of the neighbourhood’s features, such as two new play parks, a large green space at the entrance that will become part of a bigger play field, and special reptile zones to support habitats for newts and lizards. The site’s historic pillbox has been kept as a reminder of the area’s heritage.
Demand for the development is still high, with 55 out of 58 shared ownership homes already sold or under offer.
Guests praised the quality of the homes, the estate's thoughtful layout, and the progress so far.
Construction is moving forward in phases to keep the site safe and efficient, with full completion expected this summer.
