We’re recruiting Resident Board Members to join our Board and help shape services and influence decisions - ensuring our residents’ voices are represented at the highest level in West Kent.

We want to hear from residents with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, including people who have never considered Board roles before. 

Piers White MBE, Chair of West Kent Housing Association, and Megan Morven, Board member and resident, share what the role involves and why your voice really matters. 

What you need to know 

  • No previous Board experience is required. 

  • No CV required - we’ll ask for a short, written statement instead.

  • Full training, mentoring and support are provided throughout the role.

  • An annual fee of £7,878 is provided, along with reasonable expenses.

What does a Resident Board Member do? 

As a Resident Board Member, you will: 

  • Represent West Kent residents at Board level 

  • Help shape services and influence decisions 

  • Ask questions, offer constructive challenge, and share resident perspectives 

  • Support continuous improvement and transparency.

Time commitment and personal development 

The commitment is designed to be manageable and flexible - around two days per month (including meetings and preparation). 

Being a Resident Board Member is also a valuable personal development opportunity, with training and mentoring provided to help build your confidence and skills.
