West Kent want to make sure that all residents live in safe and secure homes that are well maintained. We work with residents to achieve this by carrying out services and repairs on a regular basis; we ask residents to keep their homes well maintained in line with their tenancy or lease agreement. When residents need a repair to their home that is West Kent's responsibility, they need to report this to customer services who can arrange for the repair to be completed.

West Kent have recently created a policy that sets out what happens in cases of 'disrepair.' Disrepair is defined as a fault or defect with a property for which a landlord is responsible, knows about, and does not repair within a reasonable time. If this situation occurs, residents can consider making a disrepair claim. This is a legal claim arising from the condition of residential property and may include any related personal injury claim caused by the disrepair. These claims can be brought by a West Kent tenant, shared owner/leaseholder or a member of their family. The new policy is designed to make the disrepair procedure and process clear to residents and staff. We would like your views on this policy.
