Older People

Older Residents

West Kent Extra runs a range of projects that benefit adults and older people.  These inlcude bellydancingactivities for all ages, such as community events and summer trips and specific clubs and sessions for the over 55s.  We consult local people and work with them to deliver activities.

Individuals can get help with every day jobs and tasks through our time banking project, Boomerang, and we fund local community groups to run their own activities for older people through the Linda Hogan Community Fund.  We are also always keen to find new volunteers for our projects - anything from organising talent shows to working with young people.

Here are some of our recent activities for the over 55s:

Active Lifestyles

We offer free or subsidised activities at a variety of locations around the district, from armchair yoga and belly-dancing from script-writing and filming, with information on healthy living, eating and aging.  Classes are run by qualified tutors and are suitable for all - no experience necessary!

Edenbridge Cpeople enjoying a Christmas mealookery Group and Lunch Club

This group meets weekly for a cookery demonstration of different recipes from around the world and then everyone pitches in to make them for lunch.  Low cost, healthy and easy to make dishes are on the menu and everyone enjoys the activity and the company.  The group costs £3.00 per week which includes the class and lunch, with all ingredients and equipment provided.

Seasonal Activities

We have also funded Christmas activities and entertainment for residents of West Kent's sheltered housing and for clients of the Medway Lifeways team.
