Sevenoaks 8-12s Project

Following the great success of the Swanley 8-12s Project, West Kent Extra and Sevenoaks District Council established Sevenoaks 8-12s Project in August 2006.

The project provides active ‘hands on’ support and opportunities for local children, offering activities that are creative, skilful, educational and fun. It offers one club session each week, and regular trips and outings.

Activities have included djembe drumming, cookery, jewellery making and football. The group have visited Halls Green and Bore Place, hosted a visit from St John’s Ambulance and written and performed a Play in a Day.

Children are encouraged to support one another and to adhere to their own 'Charter of Rights'. Children are also encouraged to achieve by building on their self-esteem and self-confidence. Bullying and aggression are never tolerated and the project operates a red and yellow card system for inappropriate behaviour.
