The West Kent area is a pleasant environment close to London and therefore expensive. The high cost of owner-occupation means that even working people on average incomes cannot afford to buy a home. Building more affordable new homes in the area is a key priority for us.

West Kent Housing Association (West Kent) is a real force for change in the communities we serve, contributing to neighbourhood regeneration and helping to create safe, thriving, inclusive communities. Increasingly this means working with whole communities rather than only with those who rent homes from us.

The Government published the Communities Plan in 2003, which set out the need for 100,000 new homes; most of them in the Ashford and Thames Gateway areas. The Government is making available more grant monies to assist in this provision. This investment will only be money well spent if it results in the creation of communities with 'heart'. This is something we at West Kent have been doing for years.

We have ambitious plans for growth, building on the highly successful partnerships we have in place.
