Kent Homechoice

Kent Homechoice matches people who are looking for social housing in the Sevenoaks District with the properties that are available.

Designed to give people more choice over where they live, the scheme was launched in 2008. Kent Homechoice gives people more choice about where they live by enabling them to 'bid’ for available homes by phone or text, on-line, through their digital TV or by filling in a form.

This interactive scheme gives people more of a say than in the past, when West Kent simply allocated properties on behalf of the council using the housing register. Housing applicants will be able to register an interest in any of the homes available in a way that is easiest for them. There is no cost involved in the bidding process. KENT HOMECHOICE.  YOUR HOME, YOUR CHOICE.

From 9 February 2010, applicants wishing to join the Sevenoaks District Housing Register will be able to fill in an application form on line. They can access the form by going to the web page www.kenthomechoice.org.uk. Paper copies will still be available for those applicants who are unable to access the internet or who are vulnerable.

From March 2010 the property list published and distributed throughout the county will no longer be produced. You will still be able to view and bid for available properties at: www.kenthomechoice.org.uk.

Bidding by digital TV

You can also bid for homes using your television remote control if you are a subscriber to SKY, Virgin Media (previously Telewest/NTL) or if you have an interactive Freeview box such as BT Vision. In all cases your phone line must be connected to your Digi-Box. You can also bid using digital TV through Wii or a personal computer, or through a web-enabled mobile phone.

You will need to have the following ready:

• Your Kent Homechoice number
• Your date of birth

You will then need to go to looking Local, choose 3 Southern England, then 3 South East, then 2 Kent, then select 5 Kent Homechoice.
