Extra Care Accommodation

West Kent Housing provides a range of Older Persons housing options within our housing stock. Our Extra Care Schemes provide a secure and supportive environment for the more frail members of our community without taking away their independence.

• White Oak Court in Swanley
• Holly Bush Court in Sevenoaks

 

Both schemes were purpose built in the late 1980s. Accommodation consists mainly of one-bedroom flats, some of which are adapted for disabled residents. There are a small number of two bedroom flats for residents who need a full time carer living with them.

In addition to the above housing, Emily Court in Wilmington (managed by Housing 21), offers a number of places for people aged over 55 and on the Sevenoaks Distrcit Housing Register.

There are 40 one and two bedroom flats designed to accommodate people with a range of disabilities and to provide accessible accommodation with security of tenure. The flats are self contained with wheelchair access, bath or shower depending on need, an emergency call system and under floor heating.

There is access to personal care appropriate to each individual and staff on hand to provide help and support 24 hours a day.

The scheme has wheelchair access throughout and has the following communal facilities:

• Restaurant which provides a three course daily meal (small charge is made)
• Tenant’s lounge
• Laundry room & buggy store
• Landscaped gardens
• Gym (individuals would need to be assessed before use)
• Shop
• Bar (open in the early evening)
• Activity room with internet access
• Hair salon
• Guest room for family and friends

The scheme allows older people to live independently, have control over their own lives and live in a happy environment in their own homes.

Who is eligible? Applicants must be on the SDHR or Dartford BC Housing Register.
