We are already offering training courses, placements, employment and volunteering opportunities. We feel that there is still more that we can do and West Kent Extra has a new strand of work focussing on this.
We had great success offering paid trainee placements to unemployed young people aged 18-25, through the Future Jobs Fund. The local scheme has been very successful locally, but the government is bringing this to an end. We are looking to run an apprenticeship scheme next year to continue helping people get into work.
We would also like to offer more training. West Kent Extra is now a registered centre with the Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network, so we can offer accredited training to adults and young people. We are starting by running the Community Volunteering Qualification.
Watch this space for more on training and employment opportunities. If you have any questions or suggestions, please call Heather Brightwell on 01732 749487.
