The Rising Stars Bursary has been running since 2007.The fund offers up to £150 to help young people aged 11-18 years take part in activities that will help their personal development. 

How does it work?

If you have a talent that you want to develop or there is something that you have always wanted to do that will help your personal development, such as sports coaching, equipment, music or dance tuition or you need course fees or even help with travel expenses to undertake training, then we may be able to help. Download the application form on the right to find out if you meet the criteria for funding.

In previous years we have supported:

  • Driving lessons, sports coaching
  • Equipment for vocational studies
  • Camping equipment for a Duke of Edinburgh expedition
  • Drama lessons
  • Horse riding lessons
  • A lifesaving course
  • First aid training
  • …and more!

During 2011

We held an accredited Paediatric First Aid Course in April which was delivered by the British Red Cross.

During 2010 the Bursary offered:

  • An accredited babysitting training course, delivered by the British Red Cross
  • FA Level 1 Football coaching, delivered by Charlton FC
  • Free cricket coaching
  • Opportunities for young people to find out how to keep themselves safe, with free training delivered by Kent Police.

Can I apply?

To find out full details about eligibiity download the application form, but as a minimum: 

  • you must be aged between 11 and 18 years
  • your parents or guardian must be in receipt of one of the benefits shown in the application form.
